Oh my how is our daughter 8 months already?
She is such a little rascal
NOW and the day she was born...
8 Month changes
-This little girl is interested in EVERYTHING. You leave the room and she peaks around the corner to find you. She stares at people in stores and turns her head to find a new voice in the room.
- She knows how to scoot backward and get up on all fours, BUT not crawling yet. As I know it is only a matter of time and any minute she will figure it out.
-SHE HAS A TOOTH!
Sleep has been a little rough because of it but I don't mind because she always wakes up happy and her smiles ALWAYS melts me.

No pictures because she absolutely hates to show me and will just stick her tongue out to cover it up! It is on the bottom in the middle.
-One of her favorite ways to laugh is playing PEEKABOO. She cracks up everytime.
- She is incorporating a little bit more food, and by little I mean slim to none but we are working on it! She LOVES playing with Cheerios and will actually only get 1 or 2 in her mouth at each time but the fun she has with the bowl is all worth it. Buddy Fruits has been an awesome go to for her to get in some fruits (solids) and she is finally liking the taste of SOME foods. (still no luck with bananas).
-She LOVES to stand up. You put her on her feet and she looks at you with a huge GRIN.
-She wants to know what I am doing at ALL times. Like I said she is nosey :) I call her my little buddy because whatever I am doing she wants to be involved.
Wow. People are not kidding when they say enjoy every moment because time flies. I literally feel like she was just born. I cannot imagine life without her and she brings so much joy to our lives. Every month is a new stage and I am enjoying it all. Motherhood has only made me a better person and I am so thankful God chose me to be Brooklyns mom. I could not ask for a better gift than that.
Our Nursery Essentials
My friend asked me the other day...What are my essential nursery items.
She is pregnant with her 1st baby and is just starting to buy and plan for the baby.
I took some basic pictures and I will explain what WE find essential (as every baby and parent are different).
The Crib
I was VERY BLESSED to have a father in law who knows how to build and make things (engineer!) I researched on pinterest for the perfect crib and he designed it from that picture.
I am pretty much obsessed with the outcome. I LOVE LOVE LOVE our crib and it is even SOO MUCH more special knowing it was HANDMADE by my husband and his dad.
The next item is the Changing Table...
We LOVE having a dresser as the changing table. It makes everything SO easy and right there when you need it. We put the diapers and wipes in the top drawer so they are hidden but accessible. The mirror is another thing I LOVE. Brooklyn always wants to look in the mirror after we change her diaper and having it right there is awesome.
If you ask me where we got the dresser, I am sorry but this was another family item. It was passed down from my husbands great grandparents. His dad refinished it to match the crib and again I am IN LOVE with it. Not only is it beautiful but it has meaning and is a memory of all the generations that were before us.
*I would highly recommend using a dresser as a changing table*
The Diaper Genie: at first I wasn't sure if I wanted one. I have heard both sides .
I am SOOO glad we kept it. This makes life sooo much easier with diapers. Literally we change her and plop the diaper right in without a care in the world. When it is full you open and it cuts right off to tie and throw away. I think we only change the bag once a week which is NOTHING!
Book and Toy bins:
Since we rent we don't have shelves but I actually like the bins instead because Brooklyn can actually sit and go through the bins and it still looks organized.
GloMate and White Noise Machine:
I HIGHLY recomend this noise machine. We got the noise sheep as a gift and it didn't get loud enough to put Brooklyn to sleep. The mini sound spa is PERFECT. It is LOUD and portable. ( Homedics mini sound spa )
The GloMate is perfect for when you shut out the lights but still want to see and have a "nightlight". Right now it is for us but soon enough she will be asking for it to be on I am sure!
Lastly her closet. Maybe it is just a girl thing but we needed closet space for her clothes. All of the dresses we got for her needed to be hung and not put in the drawers. I am sure if you have a boy though that you don't need to hang everything :)
If you are a parent what did you find ESSENTIAL in your nursery???
Or if you are pregnant what questions do you have ???
Off to start the day with my workout.
I am thinking a quick treadmill circuit of sprint for .15 miles walk .1 miles
for 20 minutes total (this should be about 2 miles)
HAPPY 8 MONTHS Brooklyn Nel!

She is beautiful!! I'm sure those first several months just FLY by!
ReplyDeleteShe is seriously adorable, I love her little expressions! Such a ham!
ReplyDeleteAnd that cribbbbb! How special that it's handmade-- definitely priceless.
Oh my goodness, what a precious little face!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour little girl is so precious! Yes, time certainly flies by WAY too fast! Keenan is already 2 1/2 and it still feels like yesterday when he was born. I can't imagine what life would be like without him. Continue to enjoy every little moment!
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that I found essential in our nursery was a good size bookcase. We received so many books (and continue to do so!) and Keenan's bookcase no longer fits all of his books, so I am trying to find other ways to store them, such as floating shelves, etc.
Happy 8 months Brooklyn! My son will be 15 months next week... time flies :-(
ReplyDeleteThose BLUE EYES!! What a cutie! If you ever need a babysitter, let me know...I'd love to spend time playing peek-a-boo with sweet Brooklyn. <3
ReplyDeleteOh, and I don't think I've ever said this, but I love the name you chose! So cute!
