1 Quality time

One of my goals for the year is to spend more QUALITY TIME
with Brooklyn
with my Husband
with my Quiet Time
with work

Did you ever hear that its QUALITY over QUANTITY.
I totally agree.
Yesterday Brooklyn and I sat down for over an hour and just played.
Read, played with toys, I sang while she laughed at me.
Made memories and spent QUALITY TIME together.

Gosh this girl melts me.
She absolutely LOVES when you get on the ground with her and on her level.
I thank God for her everytime I get to snuggle her. She is growing up so fast!

Another goal is QUALITY TIME with the husband.
We both said we want to COOK together at least once a month (aiming low shooting high)
Volunteer together once a month
Plan some type of a date once a month
You get the picture.
Just make sure you take the time to actually sit down and enjoy the ones you love.
QUALITY over QUANTITY.
Skinny Recipes... Divided into categories.

I plan on making some of these dishes from my Pinterest boards

Same thing goes with working out and fitness.
A quality workout is alot better than 60 min of mindless repetitive movements on the elliptical.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes you just need to read a trashy magazine and zone out.
BUT the key to getting a great workout that gets you closer to your fitness goals is by planning out a workout or going to a fitness class and REALLY putting your best foot forward. MAXIMUM effort and you will see results.
Put together a plan, make it a priority to follow them, and make no excuses.

If you only have 10 minutes. Make that 10 minutes worth your while and get in the mental state to clear your mind and focus on your workout! (Walk, Run, Bike, Stretch, Life, ect.) Just make sure you are focused on listening to your body.

I want to sit down and dedicate a certain time to work. Although I have to be realistic and sometimes adhere to Brooklyn if she is up! (I try to write my articles and work on things during her naptime)

Same thing goes with my Quiet Time in the mornings.
I want to take that time solely on being in the moment and in peace reading and writing. I just started the She Reads Truth devotional and it is awesome, totally right up my alley! It is only on day 3 so it isnt too late to start ;)

Lastly, just wanted to share some of my favorite snacks lately. People are always asking me good to go snacks and I am ALWAYS having snacks on the go, especially now with a baby and teaching more classes at the YMCA.
Perfect snack bar loaded with natural foods and based on chia seeds to tide you over until your meal! Around 100 calories, Healthy Fats-Omegas, protein, fiber, antioxidents.
My favorite flavor is coconut!
I am also starting a new gig with this company that I will update with in the future :)

If you LOVE greek yogurt but hate to spend the $ this is a great option!
Kroger just started their own version of light greek yogurt and its awesome!
It actually is pretty comparable to taste with Fage and Chobani but with a fraction of the cost. I think they were on sale 10 for 8$ (which is good if you know your greek yogurts)
My favorite flavors are vanilla, strawberry, and blueberry.
The perfect post workout snack or mid day! Mix in cereal, fruit, flaxseed, or plain.
Protein, Calcium, and thick/creamy snack!

Fruit! As I am eating this banana right now before I head out for my run (great pre workout fuel). I am trying to incorporate 2 fruits a day (I am GREAT in the veggie area but slack in the fruit) I just always forget to buy it at the store. I recently bought blackberries at Costcos and went through those in 3 days. Fruit is the perfect on the go snack, especially apples, bananas, and oranges!

Thats about it for now, as I am sure I will update you next month on a totally new group of snacks :)

Now off to go meet with the girls for our Thursday morning run!

What are your favorite snacks???
What area do you want to focus on Quality Time?

  1. I love your goals here. Quality time is huge for me, so I notice I start to feel a little empty when my quality time is lacking with God, my husband, and other important relationships in my life. I just started the She Reads Truth devotions this week too, and I'm loving it so far! It helps me stay on track and gives me some direction.
