1 Dog and a Baby

First thing is first
I feel awesomely SORE this morning and it feels great!
Bootcamp wednesday night, then a 5 mile run yesterday with some bodyflow and I taught a toning class last night.
I am officially sore this morning and am taking a nice rest day with some walking and flowing on tap for the day :)

Onto the dog and a baby.
It always seems to be a question: How is the dog with the baby?
I was interested to see how carmel would do...You hear stories that are good and bad!

Well first, when we brought Brooklyn home Carmel was intrigued but didn't really seem to care or be bothered by her (except for when she cried, she tried to come to her rescue)
Then, after a couple days, is when Carmel realized the baby was here to stay. The baby got more attention than the dog, and the dog got jealous. Carmel would seek our attention and then proceed to go lay in the other room and mope.

She finally seems to be embracing Brooklyn now that Brooklyn can sit up and babble and play with toys. I think Carmel is FINALLY enjoying Brooklyns company.
Here are some classic images of Carmel NOW wanting to be around Brooklyn :)

Snuggling
Waiting for Brooklyn to drop her mummum (babyfood becomes dog food)

The main thing we tried to focus on was giving CARMEL attention 1st before Brooklyn.
That way Carmel still knew she was wanted and then that Brooklyn was a part of the family and here to stay. She seems to now be adjusted to the change, yet still jealous at times, she seems to be embracing Brooklyn finally.
Brooklyn actually has been petting Carmel and will smile when we let Carmel lick her face.
The next stage is when Brooklyn starts moving! I am so interested to see what Carmel does with a crawling baby...
Oh the adventures with a dog and a baby!

Have a great Friday and try to get some fresh air and get outside.
We have some people coming over for GAME NIGHT and I could not be more excited. YES we LOVE a good game night :)

Questions: Did you or anyone you know have any problems with the dog and a baby?
What are you up to this weekend? Any fun plans?

  1. We have two labs, and my husband and I are quite curious as to how they'll do with the new baby. I think our yellow lab will be super curious and excited, but our chocolate lab will get jealous because she likes all the attention. We shall see! Unfortunately I will not be getting outside today... It's -8 degrees outside! Yuck!
